My name is Mburu Pius Ndungu. A grateful beneficiary and proud member of Gathiga Children’s Home. I was rescued from the streets of Nairobi 10 years ago by Rev. Lucy and Duncan Ndegwa, an event that became the most transformative moment of my life. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s in Paralegal Studies at Lakewood University and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) at the University of Nairobi.
Growing up with immense challenges, I have always believed that education is the most powerful tool for change. From experiencing life on the streets to becoming a scholar, my journey has been one of resilience, determination, and hope. Through the support of Lakewood University in the United States and my enrollment at the University of Nairobi for a law degree, I have been allowed to redefine my future. My past hardships have instilled in me an unshakable commitment to excellence, making me not only grateful for this scholarship but also determined to use it to impact lives across Africa and the world at large. As a member of Gathiga Children’s Home, under the guidance of Rev. Lucy, I have learned the value of compassion, leadership, and the power of giving back.
What a miracle! Having Mr and Mrs. Green, Tanya, and the whole United States team. That now I can study in the United States! Me joining the Lakewood University and pursuing a bachelor’s in paralegal studies is nothing short of a miracle! Call it living in my dreams! I am more than grateful to Tanya and the Lakewood University team for giving us this chance to study at the University. So far my experience at Lakewood University has been remarkable. The institution has provided me with invaluable knowledge, exposure, and a supportive academic environment. I have grown intellectually, refined my critical thinking skills, and gained insights that will shape my future legal career. This experience has reaffirmed my passion for law and justice, pushing me closer to my dream of becoming an agent of change. What a supportive team the university has. Continuing my education at Lakewood University is crucial to my academic and professional growth. This scholarship has been more than just financial support, it has been a gateway to achieving my dreams. Beyond academics, I have a deep passion for writing articles, reading novels, and listening to speeches by the world’s greatest leaders. These hobbies continuously fuel my drive to learn, inspire, and contribute meaningfully to society. Studying law is not just a career choice for me! It is more than a calling. With my education, I intend to craft policies that address social injustices, enhance governance, and create fairer legal systems.
