Lakewood University’s Registered Behavior Technician program prepares students to support individuals with behavioral needs under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Although not accredited, the Registered Behavior Technician program is approved by the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board). Approval means the program meets nationally recognized standards for quality, curriculum, and student preparation. Choosing an approved program helps protect your time and investment.
Yes. The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) program is designed to prepare participants to meet the requirements for RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). The curriculum aligns with industry standards and includes a comprehensive 40-hour training course, along with preparation to help participants feel confident in demonstrating required competencies.
An RBT examination is included at the end of the certification process. However, participants may only take the examination after successfully completing all required criteria, including: being at least 18 years of age, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, passing a criminal background check and abuse registry check, completing the 40-hour training, successfully completing the RBT Initial Competency Assessment, and receiving application approval from the BACB.

Our Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) program is designed to prepare participants for a career in applied behavior analysis while meeting all requirements set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
As part of the program, participants will complete a comprehensive 40-hour training course covering the core competencies required for RBT certification. Upon completion of the course, participants will be eligible to pursue the BACB RBT Examination. However, please note that individuals may only sit for the examination after successfully completing all certification requirements.
